Setting Sail: Fib Games Are En Route to Portland!
9 months ago – Mon, Apr 29, 2024 at 04:56:42 PM

Well Fibbers, here's an update I've been waiting to give for a long time:

THE GAMES ARE ON THEIR WAY!

Manufacturing is complete, freight has been paid, and the games will leave the dock late next week to begin a 30 day journey to our Fib Garage in Portland, OR. Once the games arrive, we will begin fulfilling Kickstarter orders immediately ⚡️

We can finally report with confidence that––barring alien invasions or natural disasters––you should be receiving your copy of Fib in June!

Admittedly, the games are arriving a few months later than I had hoped. But I've waited five years for this impish idea to become a reality, and now we're getting ready to receive 3,000 copies of Fib and 2,500 assorted expansion packs!

Thanks to you, the dream of unleashing a little box of mischief upon the world is really happening. 💛

This first-edition batch of Fib is limited! You can still pre-order your copy of the base game and themed expansion packs by visiting our nifty BackerKit page:

As always, thanks for waiting patiently with us! Once the games arrive we will send out the Kickstarter survey and collect everyone's up-to-date delivery addresses.

I'll keep the updates coming as everything moves forward!

With love,
Adam

Fib Updates! (LONG Overdue)
10 months ago – Thu, Apr 11, 2024 at 09:15:01 PM

Hi Fibbers,

It has been far too long since my last update! Like you, I've been waiting to hear news from our manufacturer, LongPack, that we've hit certain milestones. On top of that, as we near fulfillment, the company has taken some exciting steps that I'm eager to share!

Like everything I do, I wanted to pack this update to the brim with content that is worth your time. So buckle up.

Status Report: Printing Nearly Complete

I'm happy to report that the games are about 10 days away from finishing the manufacturing phase. That means that in just a week and a half, your games and expansions will be nestled warmly next to each other, ready to freight to the United States and begin their long journey to your living room. It's going to be a real odyssey though, so please continue to be patient!

Fulfillment Timeline

I'm still waiting on the logistics team to give me a firm estimate on when the palettes will arrive in Portland, and then a small Fib team will be fulfilling the orders from our new warehouse in NW Portland! When our inventory arrives, we will send out the Kickstarter survey to collect up-to-date delivery addresses from all backers, and shipping payment from all backers outside the US.

To help us bring down our shipping costs, we will invite all Portland-based backers to come pick up their order at our warehouse, or to text us their address and allow us to deliver it to your door! It's a fun and meaningful way to receive your game while helping us bear the burden of assuming U.S. shipping costs! We will update you as soon as the games arrive in our warehouse.

And yes, I keep mentioning "our" and "warehouse." Which leads me to two very exciting updates!

Business Milestones

Firstly, I am excited to announce that Fib Games LLC is no longer a solo venture! Annika Warrington has joined Fib officially as its COO, and together we are working tirelessly to deliver your orders and bring Fib to market! Annika first got involved with Fib over the summer during Kickstarter preparations. Immediately, she understood the game and brand voice better than anyone else I've collaborated with. She was a key facilitator, event organizer, and game instructor at Fib Fest (the Kickstarter launch event that drew a crowd of over 200 people), and she appeared on "Hello, Rose City!" to represent Fib during the Kickstarter campaign. Since the campaign ended, we have maintained momentum through the winter, meeting regularly to map out Fib's future. Through our combined effort, the support of our beautiful backers (you), and the guidance of our all-star advisors, we have grown Fib into something that's finally starting to look like a business!

Which leads me to my second big announcement! As I mentioned above, Fib has a new location! For over a year we've been based out of the Portland State Business Accelerator, whose management has been incredibly supportive of Fib since the early days. Now that we are getting ready to receive inventory, we've moved into a proper garage / warehouse space that will serve as our primary warehouse, distribution center, and Fib HQ. With bright white walls that perfectly fit the Fib brand, the space will also facilitate regular social media content creation, updated product photography, and focused productivity!

Spotlight at E-Fest

And as a warm nightcap to this delicious, if tardy, update... I leave you with this fun bit of information. The first 75 games have already been delivered! As an alumni of E-Fest (a pitching competition for student entrepreneurs hosted by the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis), our game was rush-ordered by the University to serve as prizes for all 2024 competitors and judges (including Richard M. Shulze, the founder of Best Buy). The competition is in one week, and Fib will be the featured alumni spotlight.

Additionally, I have recently received production samples of all three expansion packs and I can't wait to break them out for you! Stay tuned.

New Continued Pre-Order Page is Live!

Missed the Kickstarter, or want to scoop up more first-edition games and expansions? You're in luck. We've built out our BackerKit page which will serve as our primary order page until we move to a major online retailer.

While U.S.-based Kickstarter backers will still receive free shipping, all orders going forward through our BackerKit page will be charged a standard shipping fee (a cost we share with you, absorbing some of the shipping expenses ourselves). You will always have the option to pick up your game in-person at our warehouse to avoid paying for shipping!

Closing Remarks

I appreciate each and every one of you for supporting Fib and for being patient as we all wait for the games to finish production. Going forward, I will maintain a more consistent cadence of communication with you. While this update is particularly information-rich, forthcoming updates will serve mostly as status-reports on fulfillment until the games arrive at our warehouse.

We're just getting started!

With love and gratitude,
Adam Stockman

Happy New Year! (Manufacturing Update)
about 1 year ago – Thu, Jan 04, 2024 at 02:50:32 AM

Happy New Year, Fibbers!

It's been a while. As we kick off 2024, the year that Fib goes out into the world, we are navigating the minutiae of production and distribution. The pace of manufacturing is largely out of our control, and because our manufacturer, Longpack, is so in-demand, our game has only just reached the top of the queue for production.

With that in mind, we must adjust our delivery estimate and anticipate games to be delivered this spring. We will keep updating you as the manufacturing and fulfillment process unfolds and a more accurate delivery timeline becomes apparent!

So where are we at right now?

Tooling! Tooling is the process of making the cast for the Storyboard (the plastic card holder device that comes with every game). Tooling is the longest part of the process and is the first step. Now that we are at the top of Longpack's queue, tooling is underway, and once that step is complete, the manufacturer will begin printing cards, boxes, and cranking out injection-mold plastic card holders. Injection-molding is a really cool process... the cast is filled with hot plastic which cools and hardens, the cast is removed, and voilà! A Fib storyboard, ready for a new home.

This process is astronomically more efficient than how we have made our prototypes in the past, which involved 3D printing. Injection-molds are significantly more durable than 3D prints, and the process is much faster. That's why tooling is so important, and that's why your patience is gold. We are setting up the process that will be used to manufacture all our games going forward!

I'll close with a little checklist:

  • 1) Kickstarter (DONE!)
  • 2) Tooling (IN-PROCESS)
  • 3) Manufacturing (est. late Feb)
  • 4) Shipping to Backers (est. spring '24)
  • 5) Available on Amazon (est. late spring '24)
  • 6) Conquer the universe with a frenzy of fantastical Fib fun (timeline TBD)

Please don't hesitate to send me an email with any questions, comments, suggestions, helpful critiques or words of encouragement: [email protected]

And once again, thank you all for bringing Fib to life!

More updates to come.

Best,

Adam

We raised $20,073 (Over 400% funded!)
over 1 year ago – Fri, Oct 27, 2023 at 01:15:27 PM

Friends, the Kickstarter has come to an end. Thanks to your generous backing, we raised 4X our base goal and unlocked all the expansions!

To say thank you feels too small, because what you helped Fib accomplish is enormous. We have enough funding to get a solid start as a business. Not only can we fulfill all of the Kickstarter orders, we now have enough money raised to purchase additional inventory to keep selling games online and in stores.

You are incredible.

These next few months are all about fulfillment. In a matter of months, you will have a copy of Fib in your hands, along with any expansions you ordered!

If you didn't add an expansion to your order and still want to, don't worry. BackerKit, our pledge manager, will be able to take more orders in the interim while we make final adjustments for manufacturing. Our BackerKit page will become available within the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

I will keep in touch, updating you along the way as everything comes together. If you have any questions, you can always message me directly or email me at [email protected]

More to come!

2 Hours Left! Almost at $20K
over 1 year ago – Thu, Oct 26, 2023 at 09:29:42 PM

We are just about 2 hours away until we reach the end of this incredible Kickstarter. We're almost at $20,000, and you can add the NSFW, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy expansion packs by going to the Fib Kickstarter page, clicking "Manage Your Pledge," then changing your pledge and adding the expansion packs you want at the Kickstarter discount!

We're almost on the other side!!

See you there,

Adam
